A Comparative Study between Physical, Cognitive and Emotional State on Living Activity Pattern of Elderly People

Abstract

Health is a major factor for independent living, life satisfaction or subjective well-being, especially for elderly. Therefore, it is important to understand the health state, and living activity pattern of elderly people. In this study, difference in physical activity, cognition and emotion based living activity pattern was investigated. This pattern was defined whether elderly people spend their time in the house (group A), or outside (group B) during the daytime (from 9:00 to 18:00). Seventy healthy elderly people participated in this study. The analysis method used in this study were frequency, percentage, average, ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and regression. The result indicated that living activity pattern of elderly people affected seven following factors: physical function, IADL, happiness, mental health, depression, social isolation and anxiety. On the other hand, It did not affect two following factors: disorder and cognitive function. According to this result, the living activity pattern of elderly people could be reliable index affect elderly people¡¯s health.
